A wooden knobbed cylinder set, the classic Montessori sensorial material for grading by size. This listing offers two configurations: Set 1 is loose knobbed cylinders only, with no holder blocks. Set 2 is four wooden holder blocks, each fitted with a row of graduated cylinder sockets and its own matching knobbed cylinders — the traditional four-block Montessori set.

With Set 2's holder blocks, Montessori families work one skill at a time: lifting each knobbed cylinder by its three-finger grip and returning it to the one socket it fits, working out size, length and thickness by feel. Set 1's loose cylinders support the same by-hand comparison without the sockets.
